RIP Dream On! :(
Where Run DMC made a king's feast of an old Aerosmith song, Eminem's made a meal of one!

Cut and paste at it's worst. He and all associated with this track (Sing for the moment) should be completely ashamed. What a joke!

What song is this that you're talking about again and who originally wrote the song? I probably know what you're talking about.

Cut and Paste? Not even close.

Although the song may suck, Stephen Tyler & Joe Perry recorded their parts new, just for Eminem. They volunteered when he asked for royalty permission.

He's right that's no cut and paste job Very nicely done though because it sounds like a well-done cut and paste job

I totally agree.

Awg, could the original song get even worse then? ;)

Dream On (1973) from Aerosmith's debut self titled album.

Well it sounds like the original drums, bass, rhythm etc... they may have done some vocal and guitar overdubs, but it still sounds like a '73 low-fi rock track squished awkwardly into a '00's hip hop sound.

I'll have to listen to it again, but on first listen (in a car) it sounded like Tyler's original vox. He can't sing anywhere like he used to in those days...

Do you have any solid confirmation of it?

Well, I'm glad my ears weren't deceiving me...

From: http://www.aerosmith.com/news.html

"Seventies rock had a feel to it - it was crazy. When I go back and listen to it, like Led Zeppelin or Jimi Hendrix or Aerosmith, there was a feel that '70s rock had that was incredible. I thought, 'What if I took that feel and that emotion and put it with [the new millennium]?'

"I like guitars," he added. "I know guitars ain't real big in hip-hop, but if you use them the right way they can be. Other rappers have used them and got away with it."

It was Em's right-hand man Proof who sparked the idea to sample Aerosmith's "Dream On" for "Sing for the Moment." Read the full story here. (Story courtesy of Aeroforce One)

The best I could find from news and fan sites is that Joe Perry did re-record his guitar solo, but that's it. Anything anyone can add?
