A while back, someone posted there frustration about the abreviation X-mass. Jesus became known as "Christ" from the Greek word "Christians" meaning Messiah. The Greek symbol for "Christians" is an "X," therefore, calling Christmas "X-Mass" is not non-religious. ;)

That was me, and it's not about being non-religious. It's about being lazy. Is Easter E-Day, and Veteran's Day V-day (there is a V day, but it's not this one). And I'm 99.9% sure that when lazy-ass americans use X-mas, they are not using your Greek/Latin X, but X short for Christmas. This was brought up when I started the topic.

Happy Tulip!

Well, being athiest, I could give **** less. Excuse me for being perceptive toward issues and trying to help. It wont happen again.

Seasons greetings to you Magik.

LK, didn't mean it as an attack/flame at all. Just carrying on the last time I posted this, please don't take offense. Season's Greetings, is that the right thing to wish for you?

Yes, fine. Bygons. I just remember the post, and thought it was interesting about the abreviation being greek. I do celebrate Christmas in the comercial sense, having 3 children (going on 4), and enjoy the giving and family love of the season. The traditions are so wide spread and integrated in our society that it would hard to ignore it. Im not the grinch type, and love family celebrations, so I give it up for that. I had some mormon people tell me that I was a hipocrit for celebrating the birth of jesus being athiest, and I told them they were for celebrating the birth of jesus with catholic traditions and they shut right up. Its almost imposable to distinguish the differant traditions of Christmas. Its a hodge-podge of traditions, incuding comercial, ethnic, religion, and an athiest with a alot of love for his family. ;) :D

Hey Bink, we're all lazy!

example: LOL, LotR, FotR, TTT, RotK, etc.

Just thought I'd slip that in here NOI (no offense intended).

Merry Christmas!!! (I don't abbreviate it either, and I don't go in for Greek; NOI.)

The X is not actually short for Christ, its short for Xristos - Greek for Christ... but I still call it Christmas... although in actuality it should be Christ's Mass

Though I think that last time this matter popped up, Melusine already explained it. Oh well, happy holidays to you all, I suppose. ;)
