I just saw the story on MSNBC saying they sold a record $1.43 Billion, which is up over 15% from Black Friday last year. For those not familiar with Black Friday, it's the Friday following Thanksgiving and is so named because it's the day when merchants hope to get "out of the red"(debt) and "into the black"(profit range).

The funny thing was when the announcer said, "Wal-Mart attributes the extra sales to customers spending more money."

Well, duh...lol. :D

I love the weekend "anchors". ;)

LLAO yeah some times you have to laugh at the things they say. Sheesh.

LOL, that's amazing...people spent more money and they had record sales...wow...who'd have guessed!? ;)

HEHE...I was one of those crazy shoppers on Friday too!

So was I, Cloudy. Or, rather, the one following behind, carrying sacks and boxes. Geez, Will and Piestrider alone are going to make the retailers' Christmas.

HOLD IT !!!! You mean you can go shopping before Christmas Eve? Say it ain't so Ronn. :D :D

Ronn_Bman 12-01-2002 11:38 AM

Yes John, I hate to admit it, but it is true.

Of course, the true spirit of Christmas gift giving is in waiting until Christmas Eve. Anyone can go out and buy nice gifts early, when there's plenty to choose from, but if you really want to show how much you care, you handicap yourself and try to show your creativity in the purchasing process by finding something decent amongst the "last minute" left-overs.

Now that's a present you can be proud of! :D

Yeah Ronn, most people don't appreciate the hard work or the sacrifice that goes into Christmas Eve shopping. The fine art of pulling a Christmas gift out at the last second, it's sheer poetry, a thing of beauty, a marvel to behold, like Joe Montana taking the 49er's 97 yards and scoring the winning tuchdown with a 1:09 left in the game. :D

Well ill tell ya, Im a cabby, and everyone needs to SLOW DOWN!! The shopping was crazy but the traffic was worse! I did make a lot of money though, from smart people using a taxi.

Attalus 12-01-2002 12:26 PM

LOL, Lord K., love your gibberlings. They were my favorite BG monsters.

Well, those of us who took macroeconomics in college know that there's another factor at work: they also bought more stuff. Not everyone understands this, but economics is a tricky subject. :D

I myself did my part to contribute-- I got all my Xmas shopping outta the way for my friends in about an hour. Got some seriously cool stuff and spent no more than $20 per person. I tell ya, Wal-Mart kicks butt!!
