Well I upgraded but it didn't like my address. I thought it was because it was an old e-mail address from last year, which has changed since then. So I go to make a new account, delete the old MSN first, but then the directions seemed to insist I use a hotmail address! I could not see anywhere where I could make a MSN account using my regular e-mail address. Weird. So anyway, having no choice I made a hotmail address and got back in, but of course all my contacts are gone now and I have to re-add everyone. Man I hope I don't have to do this again! Grrrr!
Anyway, here is my new contact on MSN, add me back if you want, my addy now is devetaki@hotmail.com. Blah, MSN! |
That is really strange! I can't see why you need a hotmail account!

It's part of the Microsoft conspiracy....bwaaa haaaa haaa.
Yahoo! lets you have an ID without a Yahoo! mail account, but MSN doesn't as far as I can tell. Hey, will you send me another invite? I didn't recognize the address and refused it...lol. EDIT - I was able to unblock you. ;) [ 11-25-2002, 09:01 AM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
it's the policy, an idiotic one that is...
*adds you* |
I do not have a hotmail account or whatever. I use my tgeweb account that Ziroc gave me. When I was asked to upgrade, I did so, then rebooted. When I tried to log in, the start menu icon could not locate the program. I deleted the icon, then found where the program had it's start place, and created another icon, dragging it into the position that I wanted it to be. It worked fine after that. Oh...I was asked on boot-up if I wanted to delete my old 4.7 stuff and I said no, because I wanted to make sure I kept my addresses and stuff. I did not trust the PC to remove anything.

The requirement that you use a hotmail or MSN passport is why I detest MSN. I hate the way it makes you think you can use a regular email addy but you really cannot. :(

Well I got most people back on my list, but not all. You know what's weird? I keep seeing "you have 5 messages on your hotmail account" and I go to click on them, and it takes me to a page that says I can activate my hotmail account for only $19.95 a year! Wha??!! I'm not paying! Thought I already had one, but I can't answer any of these mails on there without paying??!!
So the hotmail addy above works to hook us up on MSN, but forget using it for an e-mail address for me, I'll never see it, you'll have to use my comcast address (in my profile). What a crock! |
Is that upgrading to a paid account or the only way to access it period is through a paid account. I haven't seen that before.
I know they offer an upgrade for $19.95 |
Was listening to a tech talk show on the radio the other day, they were saying something about MS and others were fast pushing to do away with the free email accounts. They are going to be pushing for everyone to have to pay for email or give it up.

This is exactly what I get when I click on "You have 5 e-mail messages" located in the MSN main box:
http://lw12fd.law12.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/extra storage?page=upsellreg&curmbox=F000000001&a=eb13b6 ffce10526bf8ae49a209ff1fbc Also know the ONLY thing clickable there is the billing button! I've had a free hotmail account before in the past but deleted it because of too much junkmail, now signed up again to get on MSN, but...wha?! where is..??! wha??! Again, utter crockery!
