intel has just anounced its 3.06Ghz pentium 4 computers will
be ready for christmas this year. they said that the only consumers that will have any use for it will be gamers and graphic designers. Dell will release the first 3.06 Ghz computers in the next couple of weeks. The power Gamer model, look out X-BOX. |
NO NO NO NO!!!
My 2.8 Ghx Compuer was fast and now i have to UPGRADE it already? SHOOT! >_< slow DOWN pentiuuum! come ooon!! |
Well apparently silicon will hit the wall at about 10 GHz. I think they're working on carbon chips that go faster though, but how much faster can you possibly need.
|
Actually I just realised that's only 260 more ghx... not that big a differince really

Not so good news indeed. My 1.4GHz is hopelessly outclassed and I cannot afford to get the top of the line CPU everytime Intel decided to come out with new CPUs. But at least my current CPU will still be able to run games for another 1 year or so...

it wont be long until first we load a new RPG into our computer and before we have the chance the computer will play all 11 levels of the game and then start a web page with all the cheats layed out for everybody at Ironworks, then start pumping out new MODs so that it dosen't get board.

My gorgeous Compaq laptop outdated! Already! At only 1GHz too!
3GhZ computers with like 2gigs of RAM.. And the latest Geforce cards. I feel like that dude in Wierd Al Yankovich's song "All About the Pentiums" |
The XBox was spanked hard by the 1800+ Athlon XP/GF3 combo I built last year... the new models coming out like the Athlon 2700+, with 8xAGP, GF4 (or faster) graphics, and DDR333 (or faster) memory are light years ahead of anything the XBox is capable of.
Just look at the Doom2 demo to see what these machines are going to do to gaming in the next year... near cinematic quality real-time rendered graphics... as an old timer (first PC was a TI-99) these boxes blow my mind. |
*sigh*
I am just falling farther and farther behind. I just don't have the resources to update right now, as much as I wish otherwise. Let me ask a question or two, though. Please bear in mind that I am fairly computer illiterate ("turn on power/ insert disc/ play" being about the extent of my knowledge). If I want to update, I can simply buy components and not a whole new system, right? For example, I can just go buy a new motherboard and put it in, giving me more speed but with all my programs, games, etc. being untouched, right? |
