Does Montaron's body serve any purpose, other than giving the party 20,000xp? I'm just curious. And how do you get it if you don't have Jaheira in the party? I never knew about it my first time through, so I never went back (actually I did, but the door was locked back up again).

where do you find Montaron's body? all i ever found was that bird that may or may not be Monty. Is that what you mean, or are you talking about something else?

If you manage to get back in the building (after giving the bird to Xzar, and he dies), you will find Montaron's body in one of the chests in the bedroom (the room next to the aviary room). Finding it gives you 20,000xp, but the only way I know to get back in is to have the Jaheira romance going, so that you get "invited" back in. Beyond that, I have no idea what the body does for you. That's why I posted; I was curious whether it had any other function, or if there was another way into the building to be able to find it.

There's no other purpose for Montaron's body , Xept the XP.
And AFAIK, if you dont have jaheira in your party, there's no way to enter the building again after you've done Xzar's quest.

Yes, and you don't need the Jaheira romance going; just having her in the party is all you need to get back in the Harpers. Even a female lead character with Jaheira as a party member will allow the "Harpers Guild" quest to kick in, just without the romance options.

Nope...tried that! And thanks for the heads up about Jaheira (I always play male, and this is the first time I'm keeping Jaheira in the party).

Somebody really should write a MOD where casting Raise Dead or using a Rod of Resurrection on Montaron's Body actually does what it's supposed to. I've beaten this same drum many times before, though, so I'll shut up now.

There actually is a way to re-enter the Harper compound, and immediately after handing over the bird, too. I just had most of my party go talk to Xzar, but it seemed logical that if I left someone standing right in the doorway, they wouldn't be able to shut it. BAM, Xzar's dead, I take my party back over to Minsc the Human Roadblock, and we discover that yes, the door's locked, but it's locked OPEN.

:D Tee hee hee!

I agree wholeheartedly. Good has Imoen as a so-so thief, and neutral has 2 thieves. At least give evil a fighter/thief, or even make Montaron an Assassin in this game (something other than Jan, becase a truly evil character would feed his annoying little rear end to Firkragg).

Good idea! Kind of hard to close the door with a giant psycho ranger in the way! :D
