<font color=skyblue>I learned just today that there are four ways to die in a house fire. I knew three of them until today.
1. Burned
2. Smoke inhalation, Carbon Monoxide inhalation, or lack of oxygen
3. Damaged ceiling and roof caving in on you.
4. Breathing hot air.

The fourth one, breathing hot air, is one that I had not considered. In an enclosed fire, where little or no hea is escaping, the temprature of the air will rise. If it reaches 160 degrees, you die if you inhale the heat. Your insides cannot take the heat shock. I had never thought of that before. A firefighter's gas mask is also a climate-controlled air.</font>

The hot air can certainly cook your lungs, but carbon monoxide is much more common.

Fire is definately not the way I want to go! ;)

Larry I haven't tried your suggestion yet about the host file, but I'll check into it tonight.

I know all of em. Unfortunately, a few years back a few kids got killed in a house fire and it was on the news with the usual fire-safety :(

Interesting. The most obvious things we don't think of.

That's nice and cheery, Larry me old china! How about a joke thread - we could all use a nice laugh here in DC right now. Tell me something funny to go with my celebration single malt!

Oh! I almost hit the president of my company today with the mail-cart! I was rouding the corner and there he was! I didn't even slow down to apologize. I was in too big of a rudh. I guess that was a hit and run, eh?

Okay, my memory recalls one of the most infamous quotes on this entire forum and all it's long history, and that came from you.

Speaking in reference to Tipsey, you said to someone, "I take care of my familiars..."</font>

<font color="#00ccff">I read somewhere recently that most people that die in house fires are dead long before the heat gets to them, mostly (or so the article said) the people suffocate in their sleep due to carbon monoxide poisoning. When the flames do reach the body, it contorts and so we find these horribly grotesque corpses, but in actuality most of the time, they never felt a thing.

I hope that is the case. </font>
