Okay, I had a strange dream last night and it got me thinking about some things that I have heard about dreams. And so I'm wondering: 1.) Do you dream in color or black-and-white? 2.) Are you able to read in your dreams? 3.) Do you ever have music in your dreams?

I had heard that you weren't supposed to be able to read in dreams, but I've never had that problem. That was the question (#2)that was bothering me the most, but I'm also curious about the others. Anyone willing to share their answers or thoughts on the matter?

Just a quick answer for now...
1. Color or b/w.
I have a recurring one in color, the rest is usually b/w. The color one is actually quite disturbing and it's always the same. For a decade now. I actually looked the meanings up and didn't like the results one bit.
2. No. Not yet.
3. You mean except screams ?

Thanks for your answers Neuromancer. I'm actually kinda surprised by your answer to #1. I've never had a dream in black and white. I guess I always assumed that everyone dreamed in color most of the time. But I guess I should be thankful that I've never had a recurring dream as well, although yours sounds more disturbing than most. I hope it isn't signalling something as bad as you think!

How's this for strange? I had a friend who had a dream where he read an entire book! That's never happened to me, but I always can read signs and papers and such in my dreams.

I had a song in my dream last night... I was running... somewhere... to the song. Kinda fit in a way, but I hadn't heard the song in a while, so I was surprised that it showed up.

I often have colour in my dreams, though now and then it alternates between colour and black and white. I don't think that I've ever read anything in any of my dreams, perhaps once or twice, but very rarely.

Never music, to the best of my memory, though. Or any other sounds, really. Odd, that.

But then again, I am an odd person with an odd mind in an even odder world.

Good thing you brought this up as I would have never guessed that some people dream in black and white. Personally I dream in colour. Always have. I hear music, talk, am talked to and do things as in real life. I would have thought this was the case for everyone til I saw your post just now.

I envy you guys. I never remember anything about my dreams, not to mention details such as colors and sounds.

1) As far as I know, I always dream in colour
2) Yes, I can read in dreams, but the second I try to (consciously) focus on a page and read it, it blurs to the point where I can't make out the words anymore. So as long as I don't try to read consciously, I can indeed read in dreams.
3) Never

B&W and color...
I can only conclude from all your wide-screen technicolor dreams that ... if my waking moments resemble a noir movie, why shouldn't my dreams reflect that No music for me either. Just speech. Other than that, my b&w dreams are usually lightning-fast, incomplete & i manage to dream tons of seemingly unrelated stuff.
For those that don't remember dreams : try to write them down - first thing after you wake up.

Ah dreams. Noone knows why we do ot but still, got to love them. There´s nothing strange about dreaming b/w or to be able to talk and read in dreams. Our brain is capable of storing smells, pictures, flashes of colors, a voice even a distinct note within a symphoni (how capable the brain is isn´t even known yet ;) ). Well here´s a link if you want to interpret your dreams (warning Freudian :D ) http://www.psywww.com/books/interp/toc.htm

1) Colour, definitely colour. I have yet to see black blood.

2) As most of the rest have said, only when I am not aware I am dreaming. The minute I hit the ephinany, I plunge back into reality at hyperspeed which results in a woozy head.

I really hate those moments.

"Say, am I dreaming? No wait! I did not mean that! I'm... urm... er... no, NO! Don't end the dream yet! I mean this reality! AHHHHhhhhhhhh... ..."

3) I have music in my dreams, if I leave my CD-Player on next to my bed. Metallica-induced dreams can be quite warped... ... ;)
