Ehm, when your in chapter 6, whats the point of the the forests northern pass and the other one, not tethir forest?

Just some foes? Or are there any items or quests to be done there?

Dundee Slaytern 06-12-2002 06:01 AM

They are just there for additional Xp.

Zuvio 06-12-2002 06:05 AM

Great, I just spend 2 hours wandering these damn forests. *Sigh*, I'm just paranoid from the underdark you know

2 things I don't understand:

1) Why is the Small Teeth Pass even there, if all it is is a place where you can usually find Ankhegs? Really, a whole map area for 3 Ankhegs and 5 Wolfweres, maybe some Orc Archers? Come on.

2) Why were these map areas restricted until Chapter 6? It's not like they give away the plot or anything. There's only 1 really good item and a couple of high-level scrolls there, and both are guarded. Is there a MOD that'll put these areas on your map the first time you leave the City Gates?

I have a feeling that those areas were originally going to be tied in with some quests that got dropped in order to get the game out the door. Otherwise, I can't see any reason for them being there either, except for the forest of Tethyr when you meet Coran again.

1) no you can find Ankhegs in windspear hills

2) i think the forests opened after ch. 6 **SPOILER** is cuz you are looking for suldnassellar, and it may be hidden within another forest.. so maybe it opens on your map to look for it. thats just what i think

Small Teeth Pass --> Nothing there, except some Ankeghs.
North Forest --> A strong party here, which gives much XP. Also two vamps.
Forest of Tethyr --> Minor quest here, Coran from BG1 requires your help.

That's atleast what they content, not sure why they're there.
Sazeracs idea can sound correct. There were probably connected some quests to the areas, but they couldnt fit it in in the game. It has happened before, e.g. the Twisted Rune, and it will happen again.

Suzaku 06-14-2002 10:28 AM

It's called a meaningless area made because either:

a) Bioware wuz bored and had to have a minimum area quota for their project.
b) Another exploration fib area just like all the areas in Bg1
