When you fight a blue monster have your mage go to talk to it then pause and have your mage do some thing else and you have got
2-5minutes to kill it before it starts to fight back good for Dragons:) now for liches you have to pause very fast good hunting:)

<font color=Orange>What, might I ask, is a blue monster????</font>

Sazerac 06-10-2002 07:36 PM

I take it, he means, an opponent that has a blue circle at their base (neutral) rather than a red one (hostile).

P.S. That's the "velveeta" school of fighting monsters, BTW! ;)

P.P.S. Welcome to IW, Mad Cow!

that tactic is major cheese! it doesnt work on everything though. what you do is pause the game when u see it then click your going to talk to it, then use the force attack button and it will stay neutral while u kill it.

The only thing I use this for is the Drunken Sailors in Brynnlaw: Talk to them enough times and they'll fall flat on their face. Talk to them again, but instead quickly run around them in a circle. Their sprite-set will turn to follow you, allowing you to spin them in a circle face-down in the sand.

This unsatisfactory method of winning combats is called "fake talk" method. The method is based on the fact that combats in BG run in turns. Each turn is 6 second long. If you pretend that you are about to talk and if you attack instead, the victim of the fake talk will wait for your conversation and overlook the attack during the current turn. It would detect the attack next turn - if you allowed it. You can prevent the detection by means of pausing before the turn ends and pretending the talk again.
We can see why this "method" is stinking: we are taking advantage from a misunderstanding in the game. The scripts of the monsters aren't prepared for your "sudden change of decision". This could be fixed by introducing an I_have_been_attacked flag in the scripts. When the flag is set then no more talks. Prepare to die.

Thats odd, I could have SWORN i answered this. did someone delete my last post?,. anyway WHAT I intending to say was you unhonourable bast*rd. this is a cheap tactic, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF HAVING THE BLOOD OF A DEITY IN YOU! er yes, sorry but I am outraged at this cheap tactic. It is pethetic, FACE THEM IN SINGLE COMBAT! listen to the LILACOR! KILL THEM! er yes, sorry.

But serioulsy, if you use this tactic, it justs proves that you really are a loser. maybe I'm being a bit harse, But I dont care. and this isnt flmin btw, just my opoinion. btw, WHAT allignment did you play as? CH, that is "cower and hide". BAH!
