Fortunately this isn't my problem :D , but I convinced a friend to buy NWN, and he couldn't get it to run.
At the configuration scan, it complained that his processor wasn't fast enough. Minimum is PII 450, and his is a PIII 450, but the configuration screen lists it as a 448. It doesn't say it won't run it; it just recommends the lowest settings. After a reinstall or two and upgrading video cards (I gave him my old GeForce 2 MX400) and drivers, one of the config scan messages said something about Open GL. Finally, someone suggested disabling the sound card. That solved the problem and the game runs fine. He knows he needs an upgraded driver for his TB card, but he's had a hard time finding drivers for it. So is anyone using an older TB card with NWN? More important, does anyone know of a specific site for TB drivers? He's been through lots of the "find your driver here" sites, but not much luck. He's probably going to get a new card, but he'd love to solve the problem with a driver. [ 09-30-2002, 11:11 AM: Message edited by: Ronn_Bman ] |
Come on now, surely someone here is vacationing at Turtle Beach

Which card is he using? Here´s one site.

He has a Montego that came as OEM from Dell. Unfortunately, the link above tells those card owners to contact Dell about drivers. His machine is about 4 years old, and they haven't been much help.
Thanks for trying |

He ordered a SB LIVE! 5.1 from www.newegg.com for $32 with free FedEx shipping last night, so he'll be playing by the weekend. I did alot of searching on the NWN boards, but there was very little help for TB cards, so I'll recap what I learned in case you do have problems. The prefered method was to upgrade to the latest TB driver for your card(if they have one for XP). The second method was to "roll back" to the OEM installed driver(didn't work for my friend). Another method was to use the generic XP driver for the card(didn't work for my friend either). My friend's method was to buy a new card :D If you have a newer TB card you should be ok.
