I've just finished building my first serious website for my school mates, and i just wanted to know if there was a way to list it in the search engines ? Can anyone help me on this one.

Try this http://www.addme.com/submission.htm. You can also search google for "free search engine submission" there are a ton of them.

Just go to any search engine and at the bottom of the page, there'll be a link to submit your website.

Be sure to have a meta tag or the spiders for the search engines will never find it...all your work will be in vain.

Here is a site that can show you how to make your meta tags and where to fit them in to the html in your page.
Stone's Throw Quik & Easy HTML

It is under heading number 7.

EDIT: Here is another site: How To Use HTML Meta tags that might come in handy.
