My new computer has WindowsXP Home Edition. I've not had any trouble with it until yesterday.
I am trying to Install BG2 from scratch because my friends at the local computer store did NOT copy that particular software over from my old system. So.......I have an authorized version of BG2. When I try to Install, it gets about 64% done, then gives me an error message that says something to the effect of - Component Transfer Error It then lists about 3 different files such as CD2 Movies. Does ANYBODY now what is causing this problem....and how to fix it? |
Since I've successfully installed BG2 on WinXP Home edition myself, here's my guess. Either the CD's have some scratches that are becoming problematic, or your CD-ROM drive is getting flaky.
I've had both things happen to me at one time or another, and your case sounds exactly like ones I've had. |
If you`re HDD is big enough, copy all the files from all the CDs into the same folder (use the same subfolders as the CDs, though); and run setup from there.
If space is a problem, you can then delete the copied files. |
Exactly how would I do that, LennonCook?
Could I use Windows Explorer and just manually "shift" all the files from the CD into the BG2 file? Would that preserve the sub-folders? Space should be no problem. I have a 40gb HDD. Thanks for the advice. |
