As many of you know, my good friend Evil Al and I are often subject to walking around the village in whcih we live, late at night. What I don't think I've mentioned before is the amazing amount of slugs that we come across. Not just slugs, but snails as well.
It occured to me just now; what exactly do they do? They seem to be infesting the pavements at night, seeming not going anywhere, but they're always gone by morning. Where do they do? What do they do? Are they nocturnal? I'm becoming more curious...please help... |
I dunno anything about them other than stepping on a big slug barefoot and in the dark is one of the nastiest experiences life can offer and that if you scream and jump because of it and then land on an incline, you can sprain your foot really bad lol.
Here are a couple of links to start you on your quest. Best of luck! The Living World Of Mollusks The Trail Of The Snail |

The really curious thing about them is they love beer but it kills them. (Hmmm...simularity there to some guys I know, is startling.) My dog has also made pets of slugs. No matter how much or little I feed her, she leaves enough to attract the slugs and then sits there and watches them eat.

Maybe they're staging a protest over the paving of roads? It would explain why they are only there at night because all the ones in the day got squished by cars.

I used to go outside and find one and make a circle of salt around it, so taht if it tried to leave the circle, it would kill itself, adn I wojld not be guilty of slug-homicide. Well, many slugs went that way...
By the way, stepping on one with your bare feet is not a nice thing. |
