Well, what do you think, is it realistic, or is it simply an over hyped DM game that has no realism to it. I'd go with option 2. The weapons are 'balanced' using a random spread system. It allows one to slap a bullet square between the eyes of an enemy at 500 meters, but makes a G3 useless at 250 meters. The bunnyhopping is ridiculous, it gives this game a Quake 2 deathmatch feel. Another killer to this game's realism is the innacurate modeling of a weapon's ballistics. The Five SeveN is a pistol that will penetrate Class 3 at 100 meters, and make mush of your innards. Yet in CS, it's weak, and, most useless. The DE .50 is featured, but I'd guess more as an obligatory thing than a realism thing. A DE .50 is a sporting pistol, not a special forces/tactical operations pistol. The game does not really encourage Teamplay, but rather gives players enough health to go loner, and never worry about teamwork. In any real game, it's not a teamplay game, and certainly not a realism game. It's just Last man standing with realistic looking weapons.

Yep, its just a glorified team deathmatch with different guns. The only realism about it is gun recoil, and that's not too realistic either.
How many real life snipers run and hop from side to side with their rifle on their shoulder? Its just silly. *resiss the urge to rant about the unrealistic realism of CS* [ 08-31-2002, 09:20 PM: Message edited by: Deathcow ] |

I dont like any of the stupid games! And it IS over hyped DM game that has no realism at all.

I don't like it either, for all the reasons above. I fill an opponent's kneecaps with lead from my machine gun, and he is still alive, but one shot from his Piss-tol kills me.

No computer game can possibly be 'realistic' anyway. If you want realistic CS action join the special forces for real(or a terrorist network if you are so inclined).
Games are there to be played, for fun, no matter how bloodthirsty and needlessly violent they are. Any 'realism' or 'teamwork' spouted by the game's publisher is a marketing ploy to get you to buy the game. Sharpen up folks Sitting in front of a computer screen hammering the keyboard and clicking the mouse button does not and can not make one a special forces hero , so forget about getting a 'realistic' computer game experience because the whole concept is just plain ludicrous. ps: I don't mean to cause any personal offense by my post and if I did then I apologise. Well, CT is still better than most other HL mods for teamplay. It's far from perfect though... basically everyone has the same role: seek and destroy. Wolfenstein did a much better job with its character classes. You must group with medic and lieutnants to survive and you can't hope to go through the bottlenecks lone-rambo style.
Are any of these realistic? No. Do i care? Nopes. |
