I finished the game once with a Monk, and I read that Kensai mage was a good combo.
The only problem is that I can't multiclass with Kits, and if I dual class the Kensai can no longer use any sword.

Please help....

if u really *really* want a sword, I would suggest shadow-editing ur char, and giving him the 'use any item'; but only as a last resort. it takes a lot out of the game if you do. I felt the same way with a cleric/druid. I miss'd my composite longbow.

Yes, the Kensai/Mage is a good combo. You will have to dual. I suggest doing it, it makes your character real strong, even though he cant use swords.

My kensai mage is definetly using swords ... what else is dealing out an average 25 damage, 4,5 times a round ? :D

When being a kensai, you can use swords
While dual-classed and below the kensai-lvl as a mage you cant
Once your mage surpasses the kensai-lvl, you can use them again

My Kensai/mage lvl 13/19 .. chap. 3 , did allmost all non-essential quests dual-wields Dakkon's Zerth Blade and Celestial Fury. Sometimes Adjatha the Drinker too, for the domination-protection, ( though almost all his saves are below zero )

Fully protected, Fiirkraag was easy, he didnt even hit me once.

P.s. If your fully protected by any spell/ weapon -protetions, allways cast the 5th lvl spell : -Spell immunity: Abjuration-
There is only one spell in the entire game, able to take down your protections now " Ruby Ray of Reversal" .. any other protection-disabling spell will fail, since they are all from the abjuration school.

Have Fun

yeah basically you need to get to the level after the level u dualed the kensai class at, to be able to use the abilities of the class again. for instance u dualed the kensai at level 9 to a mage until you were a 10 level mage u can't use any kensai abilities.

my kensai mage always used swords.... wots this about them not being able to use swords...???

Xero279 06-07-2002 02:41 AM

eLLithid, they were just saying after they dual classed their kensai to a mage before the mage surpassed the lvl of the kensai before it was dualed over it could used swords.. but after it reach a lvl higher than it was before it dueled, it could use them again.

EX: A kensai dualed to a mage at lvl 9, untill the mage reached lvl 10 it could not use swords because mages cant uses swords.. but once it reached lvl 10 it had the abilities of both classes.

I think he was referring to the period where you're not one lvl above the lvl your first class.

So, with that in mind, I have another question:

Which level do you think is optimal for dualing the Kensai and the Mage, not considering TOB.
