My DM said that i can play a monster the next time we play. He named three of what i can be - A Kobold, a Goblin and a Minotaur. Which monsters can be players? It would be helpful if you`d link me a list(if possible)

All monsters can be player characters. Some will just be insanely overpowered.

In that case I have only two pieces of advice:

One - take an intelligent character with somewhat human motivations - roleplaying a minor demon will be difficult (unless you routinely think of small children as a food source, in which case im avoiding you) and roleplaying a skeleton will get real old, real quick.

Two - Take something average, cos DMs pick on overpowered characters. An all dragon party might be fun though. Just dont all take the same color.

I Was Thinking Of Being A Githyanki Once ;) That'd Be Fun. But They're A Bit Too Xenophobic To Work With Anyone Else ;)

I was thinking of roleplaying a puddle of Green Slime who roamed the world looking for the guy that accidently ate his brother.
Any advice on what I should choose for proficiencies?

Do guys eat green slime? I thought it's the other way around?

And... can you RP something devoid of intelligence, as I understand is the case with green slime?

Well, the stats listed for all monsters are just "suggested stats" in my opinion.

There could be an Int 12 green slime somewhere in the world that was a PC. Freak of nature. Or there could be a good Githyanki. Or a demon who's been made mortal. Basically anything can be tuned down somehow.

probably some sort of eating proficiency as well as maybe something that gives you a charisma bonus
