Howdy.
Well I've got this essay due in a couple of weeks see and I've pretty much done all the research required to write it. If I knuckled down and wrote it it might take me all of 5-6 hours to get it done.
However
I am an un-motivated, lazy, procrastinating piece of shit.
No matter how easy the task is I simply can't bring myself to actually get it done until the deadline-pressure has mounted up so heavily as to force me to burn the midnight oil to get things handed in on time. It's like I can't get my will into focus unless the pressure of it being the last minute forces me into action. No matter how many times I say "next time I'll get things done early and in an orderly manner" I never do.
Hopeless, just bloody hopeless.

So anyways, what I'm wondering is am I alone in this or are there other folks out there that just can't get their shit together until they're forced to?

sometimes, perhaps. whats it to you? lol, j/k. It depends on what Im doin... I for one tend to leave stuff til the last minuet, a bad habit, but... its hard to break. I mean I do *some* work at the start... but not enough...

I'm abit like that too. But I change. Last semester, I had four essays due in the space of two weeks. I had to start each early, coz there would have been no way I would have passed had I left all for to the last minute. And I actually pulled it off! I finished the first essay two weeks early and submitted it (I got an A), the next 2 I submitted 4 days early (both got Bs) and the last one on the day it was due (another A). So if I can change, so can you!

Good luck!

Incidentally, I tend to put off stuff I enjoy, for some bizarre reason. I have been wanting to build a website for ages, but I haven't started yet. I want to learn C++, but that's on hold too. I've been writing a fantasy story for years, and it is only nearing completion now, after some hard work. Strange, eh?

Good topic! :D

I am naturally a procrastinator on any complex or involved task, but I like to get the little things taken care of quickly- or at least all at once! Like cleaning my computer room... been saying I need to do it for months... but picking up a hairbrush I set down in the living room? Do it as soon as I think of it.

I need an approaching deadline to motivate me to do pretty much any work.
When I was at college, I *started* my dissertation the Saturday before it was due (Monday, 9am). I had it finished in 3 hours, and got a good mark too! I'd had a year to do it in, but just couldn't work up the enthusiasm until I knew I had to!

Haha, i'm so bad, i live 10 mins away from uni and i still skip half my morning lectures cos i sleep in! haha, I can't keep this shit up tho. The only thing that motivates me to do any work is a deadline due in a few days... I gotta change

I tend to leave things till after the last minute, putting them off for longer than u would think possible, and usually not doing them at all...funilly enough, I got good grades in my recent exams, methinks

Why do something today, when you can wait until tomorrow? ;)
