I have been wondering about this for some time, but does anyone know why some goldfish turns white?

A White Goldfish? Original.

Well, my step-mum has two white goldfish! Apparantly it is reverse evolution. They used to be white, and evolved to gold. Now, sometimes they de-evolved!

I think so, I don't know.

If goldfish don't get enough sunlight, they turn white. This happens if you keep them in a dark room all the time.

Are you sure? You see my Step-Mum's room is relativly well lit, so I can't see that happening. OK, she keeps the lights off at night. I suppose that might have something to with them going white........

Well, I always thought this was the cause of it, I'd read this particular bit of trivia a while ago, but I checked on the internet just now to make sure, and it seems to be right.

Still, there could be several causes.

Funny, because its the only goldfish that have turned white. We have them in one of those garden pools thingys. None of the other goldfish have turned white, not yet at least.

Oh and if you didnt know, goldfish breeds like rabbits.

They just want a change, nothing odd about that ! Some people go the the hairdresser and come home as a blonde, i guess fish want that too ! :D

You might want to call a reliable Pet Store and see if they can tell you if the fish might be sick.

Koi normally come in a variety of colors, white being one of them...mayhaps you just got some "better" goldfish at a bargain price?!
