The Cardinals won't win cuz their pitching staff will burn out and they don't have the offense to sustain their game when everything goes kaplooie. Tony LaRussa can't handle pitching. He throws them too much and too hard. And with the grievious loss of Daryl Kile the rotation is further weakened.
It indeed looks as if the Yankees will buy another world series (124 million dollar payroll, 20 mil higher than anyone else) which would be a sad thing.
Teams that I think will challenge the Pin-stripped devils: Red Sox, A's (again), Mariners (maybe they won't fold in the playoffs).
In the NL I think it'll come down to one of the teams from the West again. The problem is that they all have flaws. The D-Backs starting pitching is more or less non-existant past Schilling and Johnson. The Giant's are inconsistant and have a weak offense. The Dodgers pitching isn't as great as everyone thinks (what with Brown being hurt) and their offense is a bunch of huge underachievers.
I think Cincy will beat out the Cards for the Central division and I'd really like to see the Expos beat out Atlanta for the East title. Maybe Butt Selig would think again before closing Canada out of baseball. And I think the Montreal can make a run at the Braves. With the addition of Bartolo Colon who knows.
