For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, this is about the band Sonic Youth. ;)
Sonic Youth have been around for many years, but it's sometimes shocking to see how few people have actually heard about them and their music... While they're one of the most innovating, experimental and influential bands over the past few decades.
Let's just first start by asking how many people have actually *heard* of them and their music.

Sonic Youth rules! I finally got to see them live when they opened for Pearl Jam in 2000. I had been listening to them for about 10 years then, and I was suprised to find out they were celebrating 20 years of making music together. They have definitely flown under the radar, but sometimes thats the case for bands that put artistry and innovation ahead of # of album sales.

They'll perform live next week in Amsterdam, I might be able to arrange some tickets but it depends on the person who has them in her possession, because she might not need them as she may be put on the guest list.
But yes, they're absolutely great... And their newest album Murray Street is a very decent and extremely enjoyable new successful chapter in their career. Not as experimental as their most recent work, but absolutely worth it.
Not sure if you've already heard it, Chewbacca?

Very recently, only a few weeks back IIRC.
The critics here in the Netherlands have described it as a great sample of their career, as a greatest hits album with only new songs. Truely great.
Do you have any special favourite Sonic Youth songs, btw? If I had to choose it'll probably be Sunday from their A Thousand Leaves album...

Silver Rocket

I cant remember the album title, but that song and the rest of the album are probably my favorite.

Yeah I know Sonic Youth ;)

So it's sold out already Groj? You might want to try and call Boudisque (big alternative record store here in Amsterdam), in case it doesn't work out with getting those other tickets (guest lists tricky business sometimes ;) ). Boudisque usually has tickets left when the other sources are sold out...
I don't think you can reserve tickets through the phone, but maybe Mil or me could pick them up for you...?

I think it has been sold out for months, though... And even though it's very tempting to go there, It's not that I have to be there, knowing I've got an exam at the University the next day. So if I can arrange those tickets through that person I was talking about in the initial post, I will go, else I will just stay at home and study for my exam like a good boy. There's also the issue of transport on my way back, Amsterdam isn't exactly close to Eindhoven...
Oh well. I could always comfort myself with the tickets for the ..And you will know us by the Trail of Dead tickets two days later.

What did you do then? Call someone to pick you up? Or stay there all night?

Oh and Chewbacca: Silver Rocket is from their album Daydream Nation. One of their best albums ever.
