Okay my cuz was spending the night and said"Did you know that regualar pops are more better for you then diet pops?"

Me:Really?

My cuz:Yes.

Me:Why?

My cuz:Because they contain a chemilcal called aspartame that slowly rots your skin.

Now normally when my cuz says something like this I don't believe him and I said "Prove it" so we went into the kichen and look at a bottle of diet pesi and sure enough it contained aspartame.

Me:No way!How'd find this out Evan(my cuz)!?

Evan:Well,My friends mom goes around taking suurveys and she asked a doctor which was better for you Diet pops or regular pops and the doctor said regular one becuz of the aspartame.

Me:cool.But why do they allow diet drinks to be sold in stores if it can slowly rot your skin?

Evan:becuz no one knows about.

Me:oh

So there you have it.

In some countries Aspartame (marketed under the brand-name Nutrasweet) is actually a banned substance. Lab tests have shown that it causes cancer in many animals.

I avoid all diet drinks like the plague - rather have sugar any day. Also aspartame has a rather nasty taste to me, bitter, I can taste it in diet drinks.

Diet drinks never taste right, so I avoid them.

BTW - The first guy to try aspartame got the dose wrong and was in convulsions for a couple days. Plus the stuff aggravates certain mental conditions - notably ADHD and similar - something awful. I have scars because of this effect.

All the artificial sweetners have side effects, although not as bad.

They sometimes use sacharin which is almost the same thing.

Phenyphaline is the part of aspartame that does that... it doesn't just rot your skin by rotting it it increases your chances of getting cancer, but then again sacarin and cyclomate do the same things too so OH WELL I drink pepsi one all the itme to kill off those unrequired brain cells [img]tongue.gif[/img] kinda' like beer without alchohol.. + the caffiene helps too

SomeGuy, you are VERY correct. When I was suffering with pancreatitis three years ago, my doctors told me to STRICTLY stay off any form of diet soda or sugar substitutes because the aspartame hastens the destruction of pancreatic and liver cells. [img]graemlins/uhoh1.gif[/img] I've done what I can to let others know about this as well. For all I know, aspartame may have been a contributor to my having gallstones in the first place.

I drink water, fruit-juices, and coffees / teas. :D

I quit drinking sodas when, while doing research for my mother who was preparing for her chemotherapy, several doctors told me that diet sodas would weaken my mothers immune system to a dangerous low point.

I've always avoided regular sodas as an adult, remembering the elementary-school science lab where you leave a piece of steak in a cup of cola, and the meat dissolves in a matter of hours. :eek:

My teeth are healthier, and it's made it so much easier dealing with my health challenges today. :D

You have to drink a great deal of diet pop to get the levels of these chemicals necessary to cause problems. MUCH, MUCH more than a regular person would ever encounter. Don't believe everything you read these days. There are a LOT of urban myths around about artificial sweeteners. Other things are a great deal more dangerous to the health and skin than art. sweeteners. Most notably, direct sunlight, smoking, car exhaust, alchohol, petrolium distillates, excess consumption of saturated fats, obesity, etc. Clean filtered water is always the beverage of choice healthwise, but diet soda is the least of your health worries.
