I can't believe that they still manage to torch hundreds of cars every night, what's the police doing overthere ?

Sir Degrader 11-12-2005 07:11 PM

Protecting Landmarks, that's what it says in the paper. Also, hard to have enough police when it's a bloody ethnic uprising.

Which brings us back to the military issue.

Sir Degrader 11-12-2005 07:35 PM

Exactly. Send in the army and cleanse the streets of this filth.

That won't simply happen. French ministers have already said that they shall not send the army in, and that they want to resolve the situation via a dialogue with the affected areas, and renewal of their social policies.

By the way, I study in Lyon, but wasn't there this weekend (long weekend came to visit a friend in the south of France), but when I get back tonight, I'll be able to get you a bit more inside info about the situation there.

Is there a reason you needed to start another thread on this?

Well, seeing as it's started now, President Chirac is turned on by Police officers who are outraged at the arrest of their colleagues.

Sir Degrader 11-13-2005 02:08 PM

Good. Maybe then he'll stop pussyfooting and realise that France is in deep trouble.

Let's stick to the original thread to avoid confusion. Original is here.
