In central Iraq between Njaf and Karbala.

They believe this may be the anticipated engagement with the Madina (sp?) Republican Guard unit, but also think it could be one of the Fedayen units.

Possibly 300 Iraqi soldiers dead in what is, so far, the largest ground engagement of this conflict.

The battle is ongoing, so reports are preliminary.
