Apparently four journalist have been reported killed in the fighting near Basra. I first heard this this morning. Their nationalities are French, UK, and US. The US military says that these were not journalist who were traveling with coalition forces.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of these journalists, and to all who lose their lives during this conflict. When things like this happen, it makes our problems seem quite trivial in comparison.

Yes, there was an Aussie cameraman killed in a suicide attack. Several others were also killed. None were travelling alongside coalition forces. Here's the link.

I heard that a British journalist was killed by friendly fire.

Apparently, Terry Lloyd was taken to Basra hospital ,where he died of his wounds.
There is still confusion as to who fired the shots that killed him.

Although not confirmed, it seems highly likely that it was friendly fire based on the cameraman's statement that there was coalition fire directed at nearby vehicles with Iraqi solders in them. :(

It is a sad unfortunate fact of war that there are some casualties due to friendly fire.
