Donald-i wouldn't know diplomacy when it bit me in the behind-Rumsfeld. He made another blunder today towards the UK, or so it seems. At least, that's what London thinks about it. Frankly, i think this guy has hurt the US stance more then help it.

You know, frankly I think America needs 'bullies' and 'cowboys' in these times.

Hey, having a cowboy is better then a coward.

My point with this is that we can probably go back and back and back and...... alsmost infinite about who said what first, but i'm talking about Rumsfelds's blunders, not Chiracs', and if those have a bad effect on the US stance. It's a neutral discussion as far as i'm concerned. And i do think that, at least, he isn't helping.

We did, on this board. And you being from the US, how can you know that we, those outside the US, don't talk about other peoples mistakes aswell.

And btw, i saw this on both CNN and BBC world and the first one is, as far as i know, an American network.

Show me 5 posts from a non-american that talks about Chiracs blunders. CNN is an american net work, that leans to the left, what did you see that relates to this subject?

Oh we talk about other people's blunders alright. But, if American blunders recieve more attention it is mainly due to their elevated power, fame and status.
More power = more damage done when you screw up.
More fame = scandal becomes 'juicier' so to speak.
More status = tall-poppy syndrome. Everyone wants a piece of the pie and likes to take pot-shots at the top dog.

Don't take it so hard Iron_Ranger. Be secure in your self-esteem.

Again, this is not the topic and i'm not going to look down all the posts to find 5. The fact is we DID discuss it on this board and it was also reported in the press over here and, at least in my country, the opinion was that he indeed did something that didn't help his stance.

[/QUOTE]It was something about 'We don't need the Brits and will go at it alone and maybe they can have a their place after the war' or somesuch. I don't remember the exact wording because my English isn't that good. Anyway, London took exeption to his words and he had to take that statement back. And that says a lot. It says 'Yes, i made a mistake'
