I was talking to my mother a couple of days ago about politics and stuffs (which i rarely do), and she said it would be bad that the american offensive to "blow up Saddam" would be bad 2 start from here, because there would be atacks in ROmania also; i disagreed, of course (like always [img]tongue.gif[/img] ). What would they care to hurt a small country like ours. I mean we were kinda forced anyway. If it weren't for the americans we couldn't have entered that N.A.T.O. organisation. Opinions?

Opinions? Posting this in the war forum perhaps? ;) If you do I promise that Magik, Timber, Yorick etc will jump on this topic. :D LOL!

I dont think thats very likley to happen, I think the US is looking for places a bit closer to Iraq. We have Saudia Arabia (I think?) Kuwait and Qatar.

I dont think Romanians have too much to worry about as far as that goes. </font>

[img]smile.gif[/img] Some people in Slovenia are saying that joining NATO would make us safer, but to me it seems more logical that joining NATO would make us more possible victims for future terrorist attacks. Right now not a lot of people know where we are, but once we join NATO more will know. Especially since it's a military organisation. [img]smile.gif[/img]
So, I don't know. I think that letting your airports being used for the war, and things like that, that does make it more possible to be attacked. It doesn't mean you would, but the risk does go up (a bit). [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think you are dead-bang on about this Spelca. But, I think that being a NATO member is only one of several characteristics that make you a target for extremist attacks, some others being:

Christian
Maybe other "infidel" religions
Capitalist
Free/Democratic
Liberal (especially towards sexuality and/or women's rights)
Wealthy.

I think any of these has the power to incite fanatic extremist ire nearly as much as NATO membership.
