Permanent Security Council members France and Russia (and temporary member Germany) have agreed on a proposal that would grant the UN weapon inspector more time, manpower and equipment to continue their inspections. China have also come out in support of the proposal.
And in Bagdad the Iraqi governmant have conceded to the UN demands that U2 spyplanes be allowed to aid the inspectors in the work. |
Hans Blix said yesterday that more inspectors were NOT the answer. That more Iraqi cooporation was. (I heard this reported on either MSNBC OR FOXNEWS last night. They were interviewing Blix as he was flying back from Iraqi.) As far as the U2 spy planes go, there are strings to that as well. There can be not patrols in the UN no fly zones. BULL HOCKEY! The Iraqis have nothing that can bring down a U2. There is no reason we have to stop flying in the No Fly Zones! So much for cooporation!
Hans Blix also said there is nothing new in the Documents the Iraqis turned over to the UN inspectors this weekend. If anything, it muddied the waters, because it addressed issues not previously on the table! That isn't cooporation either! [ 02-11-2003, 08:45 AM: Message edited by: Sir Taliesin ] |
