Read them and tell me what you think...

"No cause for war with Iraq" - Kofi Annan, UN secretary-general.

"I hope that the situation can be resolved peacefully and without violence" - George Bush (not a joke)

Is this a turn for the better? Could it possibly be that people are working away from the violent solution?

Ar-Cunin 01-03-2003 06:39 AM

No - GWB just says something like that because he can't say: "We want a war with Iraq"

When the war comes (not if), He'll say something like: "We would have liked to avoid this, but Saddam Hussein wouldn't give up his WoMD ........."

He will say that even though he has no evidence of it?

Of course. An Iraqi war is his aggenda. The UN inspections will delay it, but Bush has his mind set on this. Consider the war already waged. It'll just take a little longer to get fully underway than George W. would like. Not saying this is a good or bad thing, just saying.

Kofi A. is the worst leader since Nevil Chamberlain and should read some history about this man to learn how not to deal with dictators.

GWB does not want a war (no sane person does) despite what people who hate him say his motives are. They choose to call him a liar but have never personally talked to the man to know that he is not stating his very own preferences. Because there is NO proof to the contrary you have to take him at his word for what he wants, he wants a peaceful disarmament of Iraq and a removal of all WMD's and their construction materials. Anything else anyone says is fictitious gossip and lies based on their hate of conservative republican leaders, because they have no PROOF to the contrary.

Not a turn for the better, a continuation of the stated policy by GWB, to try and settle things peacefully. As for having no reason for war, Iraq has already been proven to be in breach of the agreements, when they found tons of mustard gas in the country, at on the very same day that Terriq Aziz was announcing on radio broadcasts that they had NO weapons of mass destruction (Mustard Gas is a WMD)

So you are psychic? ;) Or you are a very highly ranked Cabinet member in the US so you talk to GWB all the time and know his 'real' reasons for doing things? Wow.......... I'm....speechless. ;) :D So predict when my next raise will be.... or could you PLEASE ask Congress to lower my taxes this year?

Seriously, I doubt there is any love lost btwn Saddam and Bush, but I doubt very highly that he'd risk war for one person...especially with the press hot on the trail of anything that takes place involving Iraq these days.

So just because the UN inspectors can't find any doesn't mean that Iraq is in the clear.

Also - the US government has already stated that it reserves the right to interprit the inspectors rapport (due 27. Jan) themselves and act accordingly - i.e. attack without going back to the Secuerity Council.
You are forgetting that the 1441 resolution is NOT the only resolution concerning Iraq, there are also others dating back some 10 years that are in theory still waiting to be enforced. You are right in that the US has reserved the right to ignore the UN and the Security Council. If the Security Council isn't doing its real job or the UN is not serving the Interest of the US, there is no real reason why the US should utilize those offices. Other than it ticks them off, and illustrates just how inneffective the whole UN has become. Im not happy about that, but it has been decades since the UN has done anything really effective anywhere on the globe.....unless it has been backed up by the US. (I will qualify that last statement...by saing "That I know of")

They found mustard gas...in shells left right where they were when weapons inspectors last left. They were not touched, or moved.

Did they exist or not? Tariq Aziz and the Iraqi Government said they did not, their report to the US (The 13000 page document) said it didn't exist, obviously a lie.

Why are you so sure of US lies and so sure that Sadam Husein is the soul of thruth and goodness?
