If there's one consistent thing in American foreign policy, it's inconsistency.

America's foreign policy is intended to be inconsistent. Our foreign policy has one goal -- favorable results for us in every possible matter. This isn't a new idea -- George Washington advocated it as a necessity.

But it doesn't work! In the long-run it always comes back to haunt you, however good it might seem at the time.
