This is actually not a bad discussion by members of the public about the future of women in the Arab world. Seems to be posters from all countries taking part with some good points being made.

Very nice. Some great viewpoints. There were some male muslim ones that I thought were a little... wrong. It's not that these men are bad or evil, it's just that they are stuck in arguments we know will not stand the test of time. Arguments such as "the woman is given a high responsibility for the household, and therein lies her power." Riiiiight. Doesn't work in the long run. Women realize that money is power, and that means a job is power. And, the "family structure" argument doesn't work either. Women rightly view both arguments to be a translated version of confinement justified by conservativism.

In the US, our nuclear families did take a hit following women's lib and divorce rates flew through the ceiling. That wasn't permanent, though. And, you know what, it bears mentioning that anytime you are going to give people more freedom, they are going to be more free to walk away from each other, and from bad relationships and bad situations.
