Well, so they caught him. 1 courtroom, 8 floors, and one carjacking too late. His acts were almost cinematic in nature, will surely get made into a movie, and will inspire others seeking emulation and fame. A shame, truly.

Note that in the Lefkow murders case, also in the spotlight, they didn't catch the guy, who ultimately committed suicide.

A darn shame in both instances, sad events.
