DRID STADIUM EVACUATED
Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium has been evacuated after a bomb scare at the venue.

The alert led to the La Liga match against Real Sociedad being abandoned at 1-1 just three minutes from time.

Some 70,000 people were forced to leave the venue after the scare in the name of the Basque separatist group ETA.

An anonymous caller to the Basque newspaper Gara claimed a bomb had been planted in the stadium and would explode at 9pm local time (8pm GMT) on Sunday.

But there was no explosion and Real Madrid President Florentino Perez said no bomb had been found.

Reports had suggested a rucksack had been discovered and was examined.

Earlier, Real Madrid's team, including David Beckham and Ronaldo, suddenly trooped off the pitch without any explanation.

Then an announcement was made over the public address system telling the crowd to leave the ground.

Spectators left the stadium in an orderly way, clearing the ground in less than 15 minutes. Hundreds streamed across the pitch on their way to the exits.

Also on Sunday, two makeshift bombs went off outside two businesses in Spain's Basque country, injuring no one but causing material damage.

Regional authorities blamed the explosions on ETA, which has claimed responsibility for a string of low-intensity blasts around Spain that left five people injured earlier this month.

I'm glad that no one was hurt.

Well, i wouldn't have lost any sleep if something would have happened to them, both the players and their nazi supporters.

It must have been quite a site watching 70,000 people all rush for 20 or less exits. I wish I'd seen it. :D

Actually, the stadium was empty in somewhat 15 minutes, all in an orderly fashion. they have experience with situations like that overthere, and the Spanish don't freak out from a bombthreat that easily anymore, they are quite used to it by now.
