Murky allegations about a mystery woman have cast a cloud over US senator John Kerry's challenge to be the Democrats presidential candidate ahead of another state election in Nevada tomorrow. A right-wing website has claimed that Kerry asked the woman to leave the United States for personal reasons. It is reputedly the same Internet site which first disclosed that former President Bill Clinton had an affair with Monica Lewinsky.
The website also claimed that General Wesley Clark, who bowed out of the Democrat race on Wednesday, had said the frontrunner's campaign would implode over what was described as "an intern issue". There has been no official response from Kerry's team but Democrat sources blamed the allegations on Republican smear tactics. The claims have added a new twist to the nomination process, particularly as Kerry's closest rival Howard Dean has said he will continue in the race - this despite earlier suggestions that he would pull out ahead of next Wednesday's crucial primary in Wisconsin. Kerry's other main opponent Senator John Edwards has also declined to rule himself out. It has fuelled speculation that both candidates believe the allegations about Kerry could rekindle their own campaigns. [Source: EuroNews] |
Somehow, someway, we've got to find a way to get someone into the presidential office, who's not a fruitcake. I wonder if there's something inherent in politics that makes people crazy? Are these guys just 'products of the system'? Are there any truly 'decent' politicans out there? I never really liked Kerry anyways. His mouth looks like a gerbil's.

Well, at least Kerry will soon have a good answer to the question "Why the long face?" :D (credits to Jay Leno, another huge-headed person ironically, for the joke)
I went looking for news articles on this yesterday and found none. Haven't had time to look yet today. I hate this crap. I'm not a Kerry fan, and I do respect that President Bush has apparently been faithful (he's at least kept any cad-ish activities under wraps). However, for me this is such a frikkin minor issue. Statistics say that a majority (@ 55%) of men cheat and that half of women cheat. And in general we don't care. Some do care and scream loudly, but by and large we (and if not "we", then substitute "I") really think this has very little bearing on how someone can perform the government leadership jobs. Some of the best presidents have been absolute skirt-chasers. Who cares? At least that's my take on it. |
Well, I doubt it is Republican smear tactics since he isn't officially running against the Republicans just yet. My guess is that Dean or Edwards (or maybe even Clark) had a hand in this. After all, they stand to profit far more from Kerry's campaign "imploding" than the Repubs do - at least for now.
To answer ryaldin's question...I don't know of any scandals involving Senator Edwards. He is a multi-term Senator for my home state and I've never heard any allegations regarding sexual affairs from his opponents. |
I thought Edwards had served only a single term as Senator. That is one of the things that made him an appealing candidate. He knows how things work in Washington, but has not spent enough time to be considered an insider.

If I were an American, I'd vote for the person who didn't dirty his hands with this mud throwing. It's pathetic how these people try to discredit each other.

Natt Drudge, author of the Drudge Report, fired the first salvo in this matter. He claimed Thursday thata Kerry scandal may be erupting. Kerry was allegedly unfaithful to his wife with a woman who once worked for the A.P. and has reportedly left the country.

The mudslinging has started. :D

Theres an extremely good Eddie Izzard sketch about Clinton's infidelities. The sketch basically asks why there aren't different degrees of purjory (sp?), like there's murder 1 and so on. Purjory 1 would be saying you slept with someone when you didn't, and purjory 10 would be going to war with another country and killing thousands because you said they had WMDs when they didn't.
It astounds me that this even registers on the political landscape at the moment. So he may have had sex with someone who wasn't his wife. Does it really have absolutely any effect at all on his ability to govern the country? Are we afraid he's going to go and govern another country secretly while he's supposed to be governing America? I mean, how is this relevant? |
Compared to some of the allogations that the UK conservitive party MPs have faced over the years just be glad its women he is intrested in ;)
