its getting scary that the food we eat is increasingly becoming the object of our nightmares of disease..

i mean

beef= mad cow
chicken= bird flu (other birds may be included)
pork= ?? is there any.. well its unhealthy to eat in the first place since i dont eat it

and SARS once again.. brr.. im gettin unerrved now.. and the stupidity of the asian countries of "Cover ups" sigh :(

Beer=bronchitis ? That's the dumbest thing i've ever heard. If that would be true, i'd be having some serious problems overhere, don't you think ?

Btw, there IS a problem with pigs, in the Netherlands it's called "varkenspest", which literally means "pigplague". I'm not sure if that's what you English talking people call it though.

And all these disseases, each and every one of em, are all created by mankind. Because of what they feed these animals, so that they might grow bigger much faster and stuff. :rolleyes:

Not to mention that pigs is one of the culprits when it comes to the common flue. ;)

Anyway, a new virus will always evolve. There's not much we can do about it. However, were we to spend the US military budget for Iraq on viral research perhaps we could find a way to treat the infections. ;) But still, in this modern day, killing goes before curing. :(

Gotta go with Johnny on this one when it comes to Mad Cow disease. Farmers gave their cattle diseases by cutting corners when feeding the cows. They were feeding them ground up sheep brains amongst other things, which caused BSE in the cows in question. But then the same farmers had the cheek to demand compensation when their animal were culled, and to lobby the government to sue the French when they didn't repeal their ban on the meat.

The farming lobby in Europe - as ever very vocal and astoundingly cheeky.

Agree with Baghdad Johhny and Barry. Conservation and husbandry are lost arts.

Sars last year wasn't that scary...though my gf and I did change our holiday from China at the last minute.

Seems scarier this year. Everybody's worried that this could turn into Spanish Flu 2: Avian Boogaloo. My neighbor's maid even got rid of her parakeet, for God's sake, and the Buddhist philosophy of live and let live has been supplanted by one of "kill the pigeons before they kill us".

Lovely.
