Britain's biggest mass murderer, Howard Shipman, the doctor thought to have murdered at least 400 and possibly up to 600 elderly people has been found dead in his prison cell. He hung himself.

Once again I feel cheated by the death of a murderer, where is his punishment now?

He never admited to any of the murders and we'll never know the true extent of his crimes.

I heard...
His suicide is as good an admission of guilt as we're going to get, but you're right, that doesn't tell us anything about how many of the cases were murder - and which ones aren't even known. I'm sorry you feel bad... at least "Dr Death" won't kill again :-S

Our Doctor Death is Kevorkian. Does every society have their own?

Anywho, I say good riddance.

Probably why some people choose to believe in Hell (besides religious reasons), to get the feeling that the guilty will be punished, if not in this life then in the next.

A little bit different I feel - Kevorkian openly killed people and claimed (with at least some evidence) that it was their wish for him to do so. Shipman just killed a lot of people and never admitted anything, including how many he'd killed.

Or why he did it!

I think Kavorkian is somewhat different from the guy they are talking abouthere TL. Kavorkian helped people who wanted to die, do it in a well Humane and convenient manner. This guy was going around killing unwilling victims...or at least thats how I read the issue. I could be wrong I guess.

Edit: Oops Barry said it already.</font>

They could not be more different Timber ... to repeat others.

One is an angel of mercy, the other is straight from Dante's vision of hell.

BTW Are we SURE it is suicide

Can't really be sure of anything, but under the circumstances I suspect so.

The theory is that he committed suicide in order that his wife receives a full pension. By dying before he is 60 his wife receives a lump sum of £100,000 and an annual pension of £10,000. If he had died after 60 she would have got no lump sum and an annual pension of £5,000.

The relatives of each of his victime received £10,000 each.
