A Blade (Bard) is a great pick. As for stats, well all the stats are good, but a Bard needs a lot of Charisma and such, so shoot for those. (And since you're only going as high as chain mail, well then you're strength doesn't have be high enough for plate mail, you'll get some great chain mail later)

Plus, put proficiency points in either Longswords or Bastard Swords, with some in two-weapon style (Or even Sword and Shield style for later).

yeah, dont worry about strength too much, you can get great items for that early on. as far as intelligence, you only need 16 or so. dexterity is a must, and dont go higher than 16 constitution.

The bards tend to get good stats, don't they? Kind of like a Jack of all Trades.

I don't get bards. When I used one as my main character, I tried the bard song and while I was singing the goblins killed me. Mages are my favorites. I built mine up with high (18) intelligence, high constitution ( can't remember, highest you can go), and took my charisma down to three ( You find a charisma ring early in the game) and took my wisdom down, too, and spent those on dexterity and strength. For your party, I would suggest Valygar, Jaheira, Minsc, Viconia/Anomen ( for a priest), and Yoshimo/Imoen.

I never use the Bard Song.

However, from what I know, the song will only help the other party members. You can't attack while singing. You can keep moving around.

Pearsonaly i hate Bards there annoying, my fav. is the fighter
(to domolish enemies) and the wizard (to take out those annoying monsters with a few good spells)

I like the bards and skalds from other games (dark age of camelot, etc.) where they actually have attacking skills. I dont like the bard song in this game, it just helps your party. In most other games, u can get speed songs to make you run faster, direct damage songs, and so on. the bard song in this game sucks.
