I hope this thread isnt to "risque" for the forum but what with the other kid thread going on I wanted some advice. Ok here we go....How did you other parents deal with catching your 5 6 or 7 year old playing with ....thier private areas for the first time? I walked in on my 6 yr old when he was in the bath tub about 2 weeks ago. There he was , standing at full attention, I came in and he says "daddy look at this!" Im like...ahhh, thats nice buddy, umm just make sure that if your gonna play with that you do it in private, thats something you dont do in front of people!" I know all kids will do it but I really wasnt expecting it when I walked in...just hope I handled it properly.

Grendal, have you discussed the situation and what to do when it arises (ack, sorry, pun not intended! :D ) with your spouse and or a pediatrician? I was wondering how they suggest dealing with it. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I think the ex-wife said pretty much the same thing I did although how her situation "arose" Im not quite sure. We had discussed before what to say when this first happened but like I say I was kinda caught off gaurd when it happened here.

I think you said it perfectly Grendal telling your kid to do it in private. Lots of kids don't know better unless someone tells them the rules ... and laws. Kudos to Grendel! [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

Of course, no matter how much we tell them the rules, they'll gonna grow up and behave the way they see fit.

LOL! I think a lot of parents feel the way you do, Grendal, sort of sure what they would do or say but a bit shocked when it actually happens! :D
