I havent played in a while and i forget where you meet up with drizzt and his band. I think its a random encounter when moving from city to city or something like that.

normally, yes. however, Drizzt really shows up the first time you head off to Athkatla in chapter 6. For instance, my monk went to all three newly-accesible forests, then checked up on the Keep, but Drizzt didn't show up until i headed for the Adventurer's Mart from the De'Arnise keep.
