I have downloaded Internet Explorer 6, should i consider downloading the new released Netscape Preview 7.0???I have netscape communicator 4.7 installed in my computer, how do i convert my browser to netscape navigator???

Also, sometimes when i was working on my computer,a message pops up saying that there is a problem with navshell.dll and prompts the user to close it (i don't know what i did wrong).I clicked on the close button, and just before i know it, the screen refreshed and all the items in my startup tray disappeared. Is this a virus or some files that i deleted causing the computer to malfunction? Please HELP me...

<font color="silver">1. I would say, dont use netscape if IE works on your system. Explorer has support for a greater number of HTML tags, aswell as approx. 80% support for Cascading Style Sheets, which are used on almost every page on the net now (this is opposed to approx. 7% support from Netscape). Platform based browsers can also be good, but I have not had enough experience with them to be certain of their worth.

2. The navshield.dll thing- this is something the computer did wrong, not necesarily that YOU did wrong. What version of Windows do you have ??
Also, run all virus protection you have; ON YOUR WHOLE COMPUTER. If nothing comes up, run a scandisk (Start- Programs- Accessories- System Tools- ScanDisk), on all your home drives (any that you can access without having to insert an external disk.)

I believe navshield is norton anti virus, but I could be mistaken. As for Netscape over IE. If your using IE and it works, don't fix it if it isn't broken. Remeber: IE is Microsoft and most code is optimized for MS. I've never run Netscape myself, but I've heard horror stories about previous versions.

I used Netscape till it trashed my certificates on most of my secure sites. I couldn't get there any more. I changed over to IE and have had no major problems since... Maybe 2 years...

Neither - Opera is the best browser!

It is possible to run both. I do. Admittedly I have no choice since you cant get IE for Linux.

Of course the choice would be easier if M$ didnt have a policy of deliberatly extending standards in opposite directions to everybody else, but M$ is here to stay for the forseeable future. Unfortuantley. Meanwhile I prefer IE for day-to-day use, but thats mainly cos I havent installed the fonts for linux so Netscape look sugly as hell. And Netscape dosent have a history function.

IE was the only good thing Microsoft ever produced... though Netscape has its uses as well, for making websites mostly....

I agree with Epona! Go for Opera instead of either of those two! It's VERY good :D
