Just a note. Russia didn't actually join NATO. Both agreed to talk with eachother and listen but Russia doesn't have a veto right. They both can still make decisions on their own. So they didn't join but, yes who ever would've thunk it 15 years ago.

According to the news they DID join. They just have very limited powers right now. 20 years from now that could be different. Its a place to start. They couldnt realisticly expect to get full veto powers and such after they had been the "enemy" for so long. I cant say it catches my by surprise because Id kind of had a feeling it would happen, just not this soon.

A lot of easteuropean countries wanted to join, Russia didn't like that at first, but appearently now they decided to join in themselfs

better russia to be with us and not against us. now if we could get china to do the same. then all we world would have to worry about is those middle easterners and their stupid religious wars
