Apologies if what I'm about to say sounds a bit...cryptic - I don't know Java very well and I'm having a problem with it.

I'm trying to run a game editor in the Java 1.1 Runtime Environment but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know if Java 1.1 is compatible with WinXP? I keep coming up with the following messages:

<font color="silver">
[no appletviewer.properties file found!]

I tried running it through Java 2re1.4.0, but it didn't work either. :(

Any Java experts around who know what the above gibberish means? :confused:

I might be off the beaten path completely here but:

Make sure you have an exe called jdbgmgr.exe it is a microsft java debugger that was the source of an internet hoax recently and i'll bet a lot of people deleted it from there computers.

If that is the case and it has been deleted from anyones computer just type jdbgmgr.exe into google and that you should lead you to a spot where you can restore this prog...

sorry if on another wavelength completely here...

<font color="silver">I agree with Djinn Raffo in that it sounds like theres a missing file, and one which was the center of an internet hoax is very very likely. </font>

You are missing a properties file for the applet viewer.

Not sure if the JRE works with XP, as a Java developer we'd never write for XP. Mario if you want to send me the code, not the runtime stuff I'll have a look for you mate.
