Not for myself, you silly-minded goat! I mean for my two year old. She knows enough that she does not want to wet her pants, but she also has decided that actually letting go ANYWHERE is bad. She holds it as long as she can, until it hurts and cannot hold it any longer, thus messing on herself and crying about it. She does not act like that when a diaper is on at night (bedtime only). She knows she can go, then. So...how do you teach a child that while sitting on the potty, it is okay to let it go?

My parents gave lots of pop and chips and stuff so we could go to the Bathroom lots. They just followed me around and when we had to go I had the same problem. So they were just like ITS OK TO LET GO!! So I did and voila. The whole day. I was potty trained in 1 day!

You have to show her Larry. Sit down on the potty and take a dump! She will understand pretty soon! :D

I had my daughter run around the house without any underwear/trousers etc on - with me and mom following her around with the potty. When she started peeing, we made her sit on the potty.
Eventually, the message got through.

Thing is, we have wooden floors and didn't mind the mess - if you have carpets, you might try it with plastic sheeting on the ground.

Whatever happens though, don't panic or let her see you stressed about it (or she'll get stressed too and the circle continues).

Good luck!

(BTW: Very cute picture of your munchkin!)

Gee, Larry, we pretty much talked to Will about it and praised him when he used the pot. Bill did let him watch him, and we used the pullups with the "stars" and checked him often. When he still had his "stars" we praised him. Day care helped, too: peer pressure. Something worked, 'cause he doesn't even have "accidents" during the night, half the time, now.

Wonderful suggestions from all of you!
Some of them, we were trying, or were thinking of trying, and some of you gave me new ideas.
Thanks!
