If not, my question is, what do you think about Ridilin? Good drug or harmful drug?

Could you perhaps link us ignorant ones to a place with a bit of info about this drug? [img]smile.gif[/img]

Its the parents best friend drug. Get your kid diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and they get Ridilin. Makes them concentrate.

Instead of dealing with the issue, Ridlin drugs up the child. Kinda like prozac for kids. I suppose there must be some use for it, but I have yet to hear about it

Neb, its a drug, a lot like a child 'friendly' Prozac, that many parents give to their kids that are hyper, obnoxious or don't pay enough attention. It zones them out and makes them concentrate on one thing, cause that is all they are capable of doing, calmed and zoned as they are.

Get them wasted on ridlin, and sit them down in front of the TV. Seems like an answer for some, but it's like putting a band aid on a broken leg, it's just not going to work. A better solution would be to get to the root of the problem and solve it instead of treating the symptoms. That's just my opinion though.

Well I think all of us, as children, acted obnoxiously and ran about doing silly things, hey we were KIDS! It is a natural thing, all humans go through a changing period, and test things out, especially at those younger ages. Giving them mind dulling drugs sucks away their ambition and confidence and livelihood, not a good thing IMO. Seems we are in the age where we all think a "pill" will cure all our problems. Not so, but the pharmaceutical companies would like you to believe it.!

We had a roommate a few years ago where I used to live (big house). And he met this girl with a 4-year old boy. She kinda boyfriend hopped around, and ended up with Tom (our roommate living in the basement). Well Tom knew that the rules clearly stated NO more roomates besides him, overnighters are OK, but this girl never left! She would stay down there in the basement all day every day while Tom was at work, and would sleep all day until he got home, would give her FOUR year old Ridilin and put him in the storage room (nothing in there but the oil heater, shelves with weedeaters and axes and drills, etc., and Tom's weight lifting seat) and close the door. She used Ridilin so she could lazyslut about and not have to even deal with her kid, dunno if he had a disorder or not personally. I know he still wore diapers, which I thought was odd because he was almost 5, and most likely was slowly being warped but not because of any disorder, but because of lack of parenting and support, being ignored by his mother all the time, and moving around from house to house, who knows what this kid will turn out like, it is scary to think about. :(

I think some don't take parenting as seriously as they need to. Whether they like it or not, they helped bring the child into the world, so the parent should be held responsible for their actions. We make people pass tests to drive a car, yet anyone can have a child. Some people where I live just have children because then they get more money every month from social assistance (welfare.) Unfortunately there isn't enough policing when it comes to parenting so situations where a child gets locked in a closet, don't happen as often as they do. It makes me sad to think of what those abused (it may not be physical, but it sure is emmotional) children will grow up like. They didn't have a choice, they were born.

Well, one my cousens are extremely hyper. They tested him to see if he had ADD. He didnt, so the test said.

And I can with all honesty say I think he does. He is constantly making sounds, constantly moving around. Constantly being, well, anoyying. Hes 10 (or 11?) BTW.

I can understand a 4 year old doing that, thats what 4 year olds do. But a 10 or 11 year old?

LadyZ: Regarding your post, I agree that is NOT the way to handle. The drug (AFAIK) just helps calm them down.

Its like using Asprin for Headaches. It just helps ease it a little bit.

Have you ever been around someone with ADD? I have, my cousen that does not have it (souposedly) and then my former nebhours kid had it. That child was really wild. It made my cousen look almost placid. He was about 9 I think at the time. Before he could even finish one sentence he would start on a other. Seriously, he would be in the middle of saying somthing then just out of the blue start talking about somthing else. And he talked fast like his vocal cords wear on some kind of motor or somthing. Riddlin did calm him down a bit. He was still somewhat hyper though.
