I have 3 characters that have energy drain on them.
I would like to know how to get rid of it.
Also it doesn't seem to affect them but what does energy drain do.

it lowers your level - so that would be a MAJOR effect I think ;)

You can get rid of it by one of the following things:
- Casting the Cleric spell Restoration on them, either from a scroll or from memorisation (this will fatigue the caster). The scrolls can be obtained in several stores and temples.
- Getting a priest at a temple to cast Restoration on you.

To protect your characters from being drained (among others, vampires will leveldrain you), cast the third level Priest spell Negative Plane Protection on them before entering combat. There are also a few items to be found in the game that protect you from it.

Good luck, and welcome to the Ironworks!

The Amulet of Power (given to you by the dude that recruits you at the shadow theives guild) protects from energy drain cos' of its negative plane abilities. Put it on your mage/preist (can't be used on fighters) and this will stop them from getting level drain and subsequently losing memorised spells from higher levels.

Have fun!

Question where you lvl drained or ability scored drained. If ability then it will go away on it own in few minutes.

SPOILERS!!

lets see... comprehensive? list of NPP-conferring items:

Mace of Disruption +2 (MoD+1 plus illithium plus Cromwell)
Amulet of Power (Aran Linvail)
Runehammer +4 (Yaga-Shura)
Runehammer +5 (Yaga-Shura plus Rune of Clangeddin plus Cespenar)
Angurvadal +5 (Watchers Keep plus Liquid Mercury plus Cespenar)

there may be others, but i forget.
in SoA, restoration spells cause 12 hours of fatigue, not necessarity causing the caster to become "fatigued." in ToB, it causes 24 hours of fatigue to match the description, so will always fatigue the caster. note that greater restorations bought in temples have a tendency to fatigue the main character in ToB.
