O.k here is my situation. For those of you who dont know Blueyonder is a ISP over here in the UK. Ive been having trouble with it, everytime i open my browser (IE 6) it says 'Cannot Find Server' so i called technical support I was on the phone for 2 hours trying to sort out the problem and it still dont work. So i get a phone call the other day from another person at Blueyonder telling me its a conflict between my OS (Win 98) and my browser and he said to install a new one. So i installed one and guess what IT STILL DONT WORK!!

Someone please help me if they had the same problem, any advice is welcomed

Thanks

I'm on blueyonder and running Win98 and haven't had this problem - has it just recently happened? Or will I get home tonight and find it's gone belly-up?

You might want to try reinstalling the drivers for the NIC/cable modem thingies.

That's a real pile of crap if technical support can't help you. I'm in North London and no problems here. Have they checked the cabling? It could be some damage somewhere, the only time I got 'could not find server' was when there was an intermittent fault on the cable which got fixed fairly quickly. If they haven't checked it, demand they send an engineer out asap.

What is happening on your Cable modem? Are all the lights on? If it's anything like mine, the 'activity' light flashes when info is being sent or received and all other lights should be on. If the 'receive' light is flashing, it is likely a cable fault, if the 'send' light is flashing it may be something else.

Have you had the modem tested? The engineer should do this when they call, and get the NIC checked out too.

I really think they're bullshitting you by telling you it's the browser - I'm using IE 5.50 (AOL version, don't ask) with Win98 and it works fine. Did you try an older version of IE? Perhaps IE 6 only works with Win XP.

Hiya

I have been on Blueyonder for ages, but I am on a Mac.

I have had problems with my website, and they have informed me that they have changed over to a UNIX based server, and have had slight problems.

They are also doing a sweep to look for open connections or something like that.

Other than that, I don't know

Sorry

Lady Zidane
