I'm having some problems (surprise surprise) with windows 2000. I installed it a while ago, and now when I shut down or restart the computer, it takes way longer than usual. It seems like the computer locks up for about 5 minutes, and then shuts down. Is there a way to reduce the time it takes to shut down or restart the stupid machine?

As far as the original question, how much memory do you have? Do you use the swap-file or is it disabled? If you don't have much ram and you have to use virtual memory, then it can take awhile for windwos to clear that out when you shut down. |
yeap milamber is right, and all the computers at my house use XP and i have never had a problem, or a lock up yeat and they heve been on the comps for nearly 10 months

It's nice that you don't answer my question. I appreciate it.. I don't give a rat's ass which windows is the best, because they all suck. Despite it I have to use one of them. Can't connect to the internet with a dos 6.22..
P.S oh and another thing..Could it possibly have something to do with the fact that there's 8 windows hotfix (Pre SP-3) programs in my add/remove programs? |
