Has anybody ever read the Gord the Rogue books by Gary Gygax??!!?? They have a lot of famous mages like Tenser from Tenser's Transformation, Mordenkainen from Mordenkainen Sword and others. It gives you some idea of what the creators of these great spells were like.

P.S. Was Gygax in anyway associated whit BG2? If not, wouldn't they have to pay him for the use of their names.

In a way Gygax is, considering he created Dungeons and Dragons. They wouldn't have to pay 'him' since they licensed it from WotC, which I imagine includes everything you mentioned.

Not really up my D&D history or licensing products, but from what I understand that is how it works.
