Is the amulet of power (from Aran Linvail) the only item that confers negative plane protection?

I've not found anything else in my travels and it annoys me. Especially playing solo - unless you're a mage it can't be used. Quite how are you meant to take on the vampires? The tactic of not getting hit works, but they can often get a good shot in.

Would the panel agree that there should be a few different amulets, each with the same basic protection, but with other abilities depending on class? What should those abilities be in order to be comparable in power to the original amulet?

I would like the codes for Negative Plane Protection so I could make a VAMPIRE and KANGAXX killing ring.

within Bohdi's Lair (first time around) you can find the Mace of Disruption +1 (it's in a pool of blood at the top left corner of the map - behind a secret door)

It can be upgraded to Mace of Disruption +2, with NPP by Cromwell the Dwarf in the Dock's District.

To do this you need the illithium from the "Gain the services of Sir Sarles"-quest for the temple

Yes, but if you're a mage you can't use the Mace of Disruption +2.

Technically this isn't SoA but it's still helpful.

The Spectral Brand (scimitar +5) is good but when the skull of the lich from Sendai's lair is added it confers negative plane protection plus some other stats.

Forgot about the mace of disruption as well. Doesn't really help a thief though, does it? (I've got "use any item", but I'd prefer something a bit more thief like...)

Sorry--this is one more spot in the game that really should have been better thought out. The only items available to you that confer Negative Plane Protection are, as previously stated, the Amulet of Power & The Mace o' Disruption+2 (which you have to fight Vampires to get ANYWAY.) So I'm afraid you might have to compromise your Solo game for a while, because a solo Thief is pretty much screwed here (You can't even side WITH Bodhi, to the disgruntlement of many). You'll have to find some Cleric (or Jaheira) to cast Negative Plane Protection on you every 3 rounds, because it wears off so damn fast. You might try using the ultimate cheese of a Protection From Undead scroll, or you could be a little more fair, by cheating (how's THAT for a paradox?) and using Shadowkeeper to hack the Amulet onto your neck for a while--you're only using 1 of its enchantments anyway.

NPC MOD Idea: Give the Paladin in the Graveyard District (the one who lost his adopted son) a companion, who will join your party only after you do that little mini-quest and ease the Paladin's grief. This new NPC just happens to be an Undead Hunter.
