...which is unfortunate, because ranger/thieves rock, you can do it in IWD2 though! sorry... i know this is a BG2 board...

ug it woudl ahve been great they both wear the same armor a ranger archer would dpo nice damage so a thief say lvl 9 dualed to a ranger woudl ahve worked great. I could have Nalia in the group till I got my ranger above the thief. Oh well nice idea

Rangers can dualclass, but only to a Cleric.

In BG, you can only dual class to combinations, which are also valid multiclass combinations. This rule is the same in the PnP AD&D 2nd ed.

What's so spiffy about Ranger/Thieves anyway, as opposed to Fighter/Thieves? IMHO, the Charm Animal and 3 levels of Druid spells aren't worth the faster level gain or weapon specialization Fighters get.

oh the iead was they both where the same armor. I would run up to about 8 th lvl thief for the skill the dual to ranger picking up the archer kit. Dex is big for both. As is stealth. thus I woudl ahve my thief I need an a great Archer.

You can't dual class to a kit anyways, just the class, so you really wouldn't gain any benefit except the spells.

A Ranger/Assasin would be great for roleplaying though. A ranger who can lay traps and use poison.
